Cherry Blossom (Sakura) Forecast for Japan 2020

This year’s Japan cherry blossom forecast 2020 is expected to open a few days earlier than average in most regions across Japan due to a mild winter and warm early spring. Warmer than usual winter temperatures across Japan since December may speed up the blossoms by several days in some areas.

The Cherry Blossom season typically starts in January in Okinawa and sweeps up the mainland to Hokkaido in May.

The cherry blossom season is ending in Tokyo and is currently at its peak in Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya.

The cherry blossom front is moving into the north of Japan with the cherry blossoms predicted to open in Hirosaki on April 17 and Sapporo on April 26.
